Creative Arts Therapy
What is Creative Arts Therapy?
Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that enriches the lives of individuals through an active art-making, a creative process, applied clinical theory, and human experience within a therapeutic relationship.
How does it work?
Through integrative methods, art therapy engages the mind, body, & spirit in ways words can’t fully describe. The kinesthetic, sensory, perceptual, and symbolic nature of art therapy invites alternate ways of expressive communication and reception in the therapeutic process. In a session, we will use various art materials and directives to explore particular themes, reduce stress, promote emotional well-being, and deepen self-reflection. The art process acts as a mirror to our inner selves.
Who can engage in Creative Arts Therapy?
Everyone can benefit from art therapy. It does not require any particular artistic skill, only an openness to engage in the creative process. Art Therapy is all about the process of making art rather than creating an aesthetic picture.
